About the artist

VIEW THE WORKS

George.K is an emerging artist, fast becoming well known and sought after by connoisseurs of art and painting. George is a businessman who took to painting as a relief from the stress and strain of the business world and financial markets. Using his camera as a starting point for his works, George takes a photo, which he then manipulates on the computer to further develop the image. He then involves the billboard painters, who paint the basic image and return the canvas to George, who then continues to paint and write on the canvas, sometimes changing or developing particular colors, sometimes just writing phrases over and over again on the canvas. These words, or scripts, or mantras, are crystallization of the different thoughts that went through the artist’s mind as he took his original photo.
Straddling the worlds of photo realist painting, collage art, street art, billboards and advertising, George.K’s stunning works are all of the above and more, and create depth and emotion out of familiar impressions. Anyone who has visited India will recognize these scenes, and yet they are universal. George has successfully used the powerful and emotive vehicle of painting as a medium to convey what his discerning and philosophical eye and mind sees and interprets, always with the utmost compassion and respect for the subject.
